Dave Swanson has been a partner in the Corporate Practice Group since 1998, chair of the Cooperative Law Practice Group and co-chair of the Project Development & Finance Group. For more than 30 years, his practice has focused on co-ops large and small, assisting with legal issues unique to co-ops, including tax and securities. Dave partners with clients to help them achieve their strategic business goals, whether it’s an organizational issue, financing or transaction. His unique knowledge of co-op law lends itself to addressing strategic goals for co-op clients. Dave serves or has served as Director for National Cooperative Bank, Cooperative Development Services, Vice President of Northcountry Cooperative Development Fund, Director of Ralph K. Morris Foundation, Director of National Cooperative Business Association, and Chair of National Council of Farmer Cooperatives’ Legal, Tax & Accounting Subcommittee on Co-op Structures: Mergers, Acquisitions, Joint Ventures and Subsidiaries.

 

Morgan A. Helme

As an associate in Dorsey & Whitney LLP’s mergers and acquisitions practice, Morgan Helme works with both buyers and sellers in transactions of all sizes across a wide variety of industry sectors, including in the health, agriculture, technology and energy sectors. Morgan is vice chair of the firm’s Food, Beverage & Agribusiness industry group. She has significant experience representing agribusinesses and cooperatives in various transactions, including member offerings and consolidations. She also assists start-up clients in venture capital financings, provides general corporate counseling, and drafts and negotiates commercial contracts. Prior to joining Dorsey, Morgan served as a law clerk for Land O’Lakes, a Fortune 500 food and agriculture cooperative.
