Youth co-op leaders attend The Cooperative Experience

The Federated Youth Foundation recently sponsored The Cooperative Experience, a two-day program for high school and college students to gain a deeper understanding of the cooperative business model, types of cooperative businesses, career offerings and the opportunity to meet with leaders at a number of cooperatives.

Groups invited to attend included Wisconsin FFA Officers, Co-ops Yes! Youth Board members and WECA Youth Board members. These young leaders assist with the leadership of youth cooperative education programs and state FFA officers interact with thousands of students annually. These groups are valuable to provide additional cooperative experiences to because of their peer influence.

Attendees traveled to cooperatives in Western Wisconsin including: Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative, WCCU Credit Union, Vernon Electric Cooperative and Dairyland Power Cooperative. Students also had an opportunity to meet with representatives from the Vernon County Cooperative Association during one of their regular meetings. We are thankful for the Federated Youth Foundation’s support of The Cooperative Experience and hope to grow and expand this program in the future.
