Cooperative Network seeks Government Affairs Assistant

Cooperative Network is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the part-time position of Government Affairs Assistant for its St. Paul, Minnesota office. Candidate is responsible for providing legislative and government assistance to the Senior Government Affairs Director.

Primary responsibilities include: assisting with legislative engagement on issues of importance to cooperatives; engaging with association members and prospective members to assess legislative and policy needs and concerns; providing research and communication on legislative and industry issues; representing Cooperative Network at member events; legislative hearings and other public forums; and providing other association support activities as directed.

Understanding and appreciation of the cooperative business model, government affairs and legislative process is required. Must be organized, present a professional image, and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite. Those enrolled in graduate programs or returning to the work force with appropriate experience are encouraged to apply.

This part-time position requires 24 hours per week on a flexible schedule with occasional evening and/or weekend events. Occasional travel within and outside of Minnesota may be required to attend meetings and/or interact with cooperative leaders, boards and committees, and related entities.
