Local elected officials, employers and other community and regional leaders are in nearly universal agreement that the most pressing systemic challenge they face is the difficulty they face recruiting and retaining the workforce needed to support and grow the economy; pay for essential public services and secure the future. They are also in general agreement that in their areas, investments in one or more of eight areas would improve their and Wisconsin’s ability to recruit and retain the workers and families they need. Those eight areas include: broadband access; housing; transportation; early care and education; energy; health care; rural resurgence; and community quality of life and opportunity.
