MN Budget Targets Agreed To, June Special Session Scheduled

Within the past hour, Gov. Walz and legislative leaders held a press conference announcing they have agreed to broad budget targets. While this is positive news, this agreement doesn’t include any agreements on policy or certain spending items, so there is plenty of work to still be done. The agreement also sets up a timeline that extends this session’s work into June, with the latest special session date being June 14^th.

The highlights so far are:

• $70 million for broadband
• Full conformity for PPP
• Over $1.2 billion of the federal stimulus money will be appropriated by the legislature in 2022
